"Dancer As Animal"

Dancer As Animal is written in response to Boléro, a dance piece choreographed by Maurice Béjart in 1979. Peterson analyzes how Béjart uses his dancers to represent barbaric qualities, pushing the boundaries of dance and social norms at the time.

Dancer As Animal was written as a final essay for Historical Approaches to Western Concert Dance on November 27, 2019.
