Library Maker Lab

The Library Maker Lab is located on the 2nd Floor of the Library, 624 S. Michigan. The Lab is open by appointment to all Columbia College Chicago students, faculty, and staff.

3D Printers

An Ultimaker 2 and an Ultimaker 2Go are available by request. Please allow 24-48 hours for requests to be processed.

Vinyl Cutter

One Silhouette Cameo Cutter is available by appointment.

3D Scanner

The Structure Sensor works with an iPad app to create 3D scans that can be printed on our 3D printers.

Other Tools and Materials

Software

There is one computer in the maker lab that has some of the software needed to design for 3D printing and for the vinyl cutter. Most of the software is open-source and/or free to download. The software includes: 

Work Bench and Drafting Tables

One work bench and three drafting tables are available on the 2nd Floor. 

Light Pads/Light Boxes

Two lightpads/lightboxes are available on the 2nd Floor of the Library. We also have a lightbox available for checkout at the 1st Floor Circulation Desk. 

Whiteboards

There are 3 whiteboards on the 2nd Floor. Additional dry erase markers can be borrowed from the 2nd Floor Ask Desk. 

Kraft Paper and Paper Cutter

One large roll of white Kraft paper/butcher block paper is available on the 2nd Floor. 

Equipment for Checkout

Cameras(GoPro and DSLR), camcorders, audio recorders, projectors, chargers, headphones, button makers (1" and 1.75"), and more are available for checkout at the 1st Floor Circulation Desk.
