Link to Articles

Why link to articles in library databases?

  • Stable Links/Permalinks - The link works every time you or your students click on it. It will not expire.
  • Copyright Compliance - Linking to articles from Library databases (rather than scanning the article and posting it for your students) keeps you in compliance with copyright regulations.

Instructions

You will need to find the article permalink and then add it to Moodle or your own web site. Here's how:

  1. Look up the article using the search box on the Library homepage.

  4. Copy the permalink that appears at the top of the record.

All permalinks should begin with this prefix: https://colum.idm.oclc.org/login?url=

    where to copy permalink

  5. Paste the permalink into Moodle, a web site, an email, etc.

If you don't find the article in your search, you can find out if the Library has online access to the journal or newspaper you want to link to.

Please contact us by chat, email, or phone if you have any questions or if you are having trouble generating permalinks.
