Online

The following services and resources are available through the library website:

Checking out library materials

  • If you would like to check out a book, CD, DVD, or other item, you can place a local request for the item(s) to be put on hold through the library catalog.
  • After placing a request, wait until you receive an email notification that the item is available for pick up before you come to the library.
  • In order to facilitate contactless check-outs, requested items will be placed on a hold shelf on the first floor of the library. Faculty, staff, and students will use a self-scan station next to the service desk in order to facilitation contactless checkout.

Returns

Library materials can be returned to a book drop located outside the library doors, in the lobby of 624 S. Michigan or, when the library is open, to the bin on the north side of the Service Desk.

Materials will be isolated for 24 hours after their return before being returned to circulation. (*except for Course Reserves where this is not possible. These materials will be wiped down. Safe handling recommended.)

Health and Safety Guidelines

What you should do when in the library:

  • Wear a face covering at all times.
  • Maintain 6 feet distance from the person in front of you whenever possible.
  • Wipe computer keyboards and tables before using.

These guidelines and protocols are in addition to the mandatory training required by the College as well as the daily pre-check before coming to campus. Please visit Reopening Columbia for more information.
