The Center for Black Music Research (CBMR) highlights the role of black music in world culture with materials originating or representing black music from the United States, the Caribbean, Sub-Saharan Africa, Europe, and Latin America, in a variety of formats: personal papers, research collections, scores, sheet music, audio-visual materials, photographs,  oral histories, books, periodicals, and commercial recordings.

Collections:

CBMR COLLECTION GUIDES are available online, and we add additional finding aids as the collections are ready. Please contact us with questions.

The LIBRARY catalog holds item level information about CBMR book, dissertation, CD, and DVD collections.

CBMR DIGITAL COLLECTIONS are available online through our Digital Commons institutional repository. 

Research Appointments:

Information about scheduling research appointments to can be found on our RESEARCHER SERVICES page.  Please note that appointments are generally available every other week, as staff manage two campus archival units: the CBMR and College Archives & Special Collections.
